The Umbrella of Hope Foundation objectives are to accomodate, care and empopwer orphans, abused and neglected children to become healthy responsible citiziens trough provision of basic education, practical and life skills. Through well-focused programs, managed by skilled and dedicated volunteers and staff. Umbrella of Hope envisions a world of sustainable livelihood for all. |
The main goal/objective of Umbrella of Hope is supporting Millennium Development Goals in which a 'full course of primary education' is a basic building block of development aimed at reducing poverty by 2015.
There is free Primary education in Kenya, however for children to be able to attend school they need food, clothing and shelter. Many parents are unable to feed and clothe their children. Combined with the lack of school materials and poor health, children get disillusioned with school and simply drop out
To ensure that such children continue to go to school the basic life necessities must be in place.
By feeding them we are creating an environment in which young kids have an added incentive to attend classes. Our mission is to help and prevent them into becoming street children where they would turn into criminals or end up in child labour
The Umbrella of Hope Centre in Nyeri
The centre is located in Nyeri-Kenya approximately 150 km north of Nairobi.
We provide daily hot meals to school going children
The children are selected in consultation with the leadership of the school, local authority and local children department
More than just food: Our primary goal is to provide balanced diet an indirect contribution to lower child mortality and combat of diseases and at the same time create a structure of continuity.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
• Construction of kitchen and dining hall
• Installation of electric wiring and fitting
• Construction of connection of Sewage system
• Flush toilets
• Volunteers staff house
• Tuition Coaching and recreation programmes (sport and games)
• Purchase of cooking fuel
• Funding to cover staff costs

Employees of the Limburg provincial government donated to the UoH their traditional Xmas gifts totalling
€ 4000 what a sacrifice!
Kalsbeek college Woerden:
In 2008 Karlsbeek College Collected €4000 for Umbrella of Hope Children Centre on the initiative of Miss Chiara Plaizier.
Family van Drift
In July 2009 gave donated money to buy School uniforms for 20 school going children including shoes and sweaters.
Family Alain Nijssen
Donated €300; the total profit of their sales in Maastricht on the "Koninginnedag"flae-market april 2011.
